A few things I've been up to in the last 5 months!

It's been such a long time since I last posted, but it doesn't mean that I haven't been doing much. I've finished a few ongoing projects (yippeee!) and I've been doing a few spontaneous things too....

A friend's baby was born back in January so I made a welcome card:

My friend has a 30th so a made her a card. I make all my cards so should have a lot to put up but unfortunately I'm always in such a rush between making them and posting them that I rarely have a chance to get a picture of them!!

A long lasting project of making a tea cosy - started last Winter (!!) was finally completed!

 I really enjoyed using ribbon to decorate and practising different types of quilting on top. The binding inside was a nightmare though!

My second nephew was born over the Summer so the Summer holidays involved finishing off his quilt. An epic task as I had designed it myself but it was a little too ambitious in hindsight! It took me a long while to work out the maths and then how to put it together, the final results I was pleased with though, if not the process!  I became very well practised a half-square triangles!!

I wanted to make his quilt very different from his brother's (which you can see in a previous post), and so I chose really vibrant colours which I was a little unsure of at first but thankfully I think it all came together at the end.

Towards the end of the Summer we had his Christening so I made some bunting:

A little more professional than his brother's last year which was my first attempt at bunting! With this one I even sewed around each letter rather than cheating with bond-a-web!!

For a friend's birthday I decided to make her a bag using some fabric that I fell in love with at a craft shop. I lined it with a vibrant pink and white polka dot material though unfortunately this doesn't show all that clearly in the picture. This pattern was courtesy of  http://seekatesew.com/zippered-bow-pouch-pattern-tutorial/ which was so easily to follow. I was really proud of my first attempt at a zip! I'm going to fill it with chocolates before giving it to my friend.

My sister returned from a hen do with this book which the hen's had completed. I was horrified at it's tackiness and, knowing that the bride-to-be was a fellow crafter, knew that she would prefer something a little more 'homemade'! I went about making her a quilted cover that would slot over the top, it didn't take long - though the hand stitched writing for the front did!! I think you'll agree the second one is much more appealing!

It was soon time for the big day but as we were only evening guests and she was my sister's good friend rather than my own, I just wanted to get them something small. I decided on 2 kinder eggs and a little love heart. This is actually the back which says the date of the wedding (unfortunately hubby didn't take a pic of the front I have discovered:-( ). The front just had their first initials T & J. And as you can see, I've used the same gorgeous fabric as the bag.

So there is a little look at what I've been up to. Next up is my ongoing king-sized bed quilt for us and I've decided to make my Gran and Granny a quilt each for Christmas following Two from One Jelly Roll book by Nicky and Pam Lintott.
